


PLAY Hockey Tournament Code of Conduct
- Zero Tolerance Policy for Respecting Referees/Officials:
All players, coaches, parents, and event staff must adhere to a zero-tolerance policy regarding disrespectful behavior towards referees and officials. Any form of disrespect will not be tolerated, and may result in a suspension from the remainder of the game and/or the tournament. This policy will be strictly enforced. - Zero Tolerance for Abusive Language:
Abusive language, including racial, gender, or religious slurs, is strictly prohibited for all attendees at the event. We are committed to ensuring safety and inclusiveness at all our events. Any form of abusive language will not be tolerated, and may result in a suspension from the remainder of the game and/or the tournament. This policy will be strictly enforced. - Zero Tolerance for Fighting:
Any player engaged in fighting will automatically be suspended from the balance of the game and the entire tournament. Fighting is strictly prohibited. - Zero Tolerance for Hotel Conduct:
All players and their families are expected to adhere to the rules and guidelines set forth by the hotel management. Any disruptive or disrespectful conduct, including but not limited to noise disturbances, damage to property, or failure to comply with hotel policies, will not be tolerated. We emphasize the importance of representing our organization with the utmost respect and responsibility, both on and off the ice, ensuring a positive experience for all participants and contributing to the overall success of the event. - Sportsmanship, Teamwork, and Positive Attitudes:
Participants are expected to exhibit a high degree of sportsmanship, teamwork, and positive attitudes at all times throughout the tournament. Respect for opponents and fair play is paramount. PLAY prioritizes a positive and inclusive atmosphere at all our events. - Handshakes at the End of Each Game:
Handshakes between teams are a mandatory display of sportsmanship at the end of each game. Players and coaches are expected to participate in a respectful manner. - Adherence to Tournament Policies and Rules:
All players, coaches, and attendees must respect and adhere to the ideas, policies, and rules determined by PLAY Hockey. Avoid any forms of cheating, dishonesty, or unsportsmanlike conduct and refrain from any behavior that may be detrimental to the image of Hockey or the tournament. Non-compliance may result in disciplinary action. - Player Registration Requirement:
All players must be registered and have their player waivers signed before the game to be eligible to play. Failure to register may result in ineligibility for the game. - Team Check In Requirement:
All participating teams must check in with PLAY Hockey’s tournament operator prior to the event for seamless coordination and efficient tournament management. - Responsibility of Team Managers and Coaches:
Team managers and coaches are responsible for reading and understanding the rules of the tournament, including registration/waiver requirements, roster/player requirements, and the formatting/scoring of the event (round robin and the playoffs).
Team managers and coaches are responsible for the conduct of their players' parents or fans. Restricted conduct includes fighting or inciting others to fight, obscene language/conduct/behavior, and refusal or failure to heed directives from officials, event staff, or authorized rink personnel. Team managers and/or coaches must address any inappropriate conduct within their team promptly. - Safety
PLAY Hockey prioritizes the safety and well-being of all its participants. It is important that all players have the required and properly maintained equipment, and follow the guidelines regarding the use of protective gear. - Social Media
Promote positive interactions and uphold sportsmanship values on social media platforms, refraining from any content that may harm the reputation or inclusivity of the youth hockey event.
Additional Guidelines:
- Participants and attendees should uphold the principles of fair play, honesty, and respect both on and off the ice.
- All decisions made by the tournament officials and organizers are final.
- Any form of harassment, bullying, or discrimination will not be tolerated and may result in immediate expulsion from the tournament.
- Attendees should follow any additional guidelines or directives provided by the tournament organizers for the safety and well-being of all participants.
Disciplinary Actions
- All players, coaches, and parents must accept and comply with any disciplinary actions imposed by PLAY Hockey. Any repeat violations may result in further consequences.
